Community Service? Local Involvement?
Are you interested in serving your community and getting involved in local governance? The Town of Abita Springs periodically has openings on the volunteer appointed boards and commissions that operate in town. Some of these boards include:
Planning and Zoning TOAS
Historic Commission TOAS
Fire District 8 Fire Board
Fire District 8 Civil Service Board
Trailhead Museum Board TOAS
Most of these boards meet one evening a month for an hour or two. Additional requirements may include research from home on agenda items and special meetings when needed.
No special education requirements are needed however some boards have residency requirements and all require the desire to serve, the willingness to seek information and make decisions, and the ability to objectively consider issues that affect our area.
